Ad-hoc notification in accordance with section 15 WpHG (German Securities Trading Act): Analytik Jena Adjusts Earnings Guidance for the 2009/2010 Financial Year

Jena, July 28, 2010 — Analytik Jena AG (Frankfurt DE0005213508, Prime Standard: AJA) today announced its preliminary sales and earnings figures for the first nine months of the current 2009/2010 financial year. The Thuringia-based provider of analytical instrumentation technology generated an operating result (EBIT) of EUR 3.2 m on the back of sales of EUR 59.6 m. Earnings per share amounted to EUR 0.47.

Based on the current course of business, the Company expects to record EBIT of around EUR 5.0 m and earnings per share of around EUR 0.60 for the financial year as a whole, down on its initial forecasts.

This adjustment is due to the sustained difficult development in the Optics segment, which has not enjoyed the recovery that was expected. The Company also reported non-recurring effects from the closure of CyBio Japan in the past quarter, as well as a sharp increase in costs for the establishment of a uniform international sales structure in the Life Science sector.

The Company still expects to achieve record sales of around EUR 80.0 m and intends to recommend the distribution of a dividend to the Supervisory Board at its meeting in December 2010 to adopt the annual financial statements.

This information is based on preliminary key financial figures. The complete figures for the first nine months of the 2009/2010 financial year will be announced on August 12, 2010.

Analytik Jena Delivers Instruments for Environmental Analysis to Poland

Jena, June 30, 2010 — Analytik Jena AG has received an extensive new order from Poland. The system provider of analytic measurement technology headquartered in Jena, Germany, is delivering a total of 20 TOC analyzers to the Polish Inspectorate of Environmental Protection (GIOS) as well as their regional investigations offices. The company was therefore able to further strengthen its market position in the neighboring country.

The project was acquired by marketing partner Meranco in Poznan, Poland, which has successfully been acting as an exclusive distributor for the business unit of Analytical Instrumentation in this region for many years.

"This project is a great success for Analytik Jena. We are able to further expand our position as a provider of high-quality analytic measurement instruments in Poland and secure important competitive advantages," said Klaus Berka, CEO of Analytik Jena AG.

The TOC analyzer is an instrument for measuring the total organic carbon content in aqueous and solid samples. The technology is used for determining the water quality in lakes, rivers and waste waters. The area of environmental analysis is a globally growing market determined by international and national regulations. The analysis of total organic carbon (TOC) is an important parameter in this process.

"With increasing general conditions in the area of environmental protection and the related area of resource management, the requirements on appropriate technology for analysis of this sector are increasing as well. This project clearly shows that the products of Analytik Jena are recognized as excellent technologies, particularly in the public authority segment abroad," said Torsten Olschewski, Sales and Marketing Director in the Analytical Instrumentation business unit at Analytik Jena.

The project is part of the program for the regional development of Poland, co-financed by the European Union. The goal is to optimize the handling of existing resources and to avert environmental risks.

Analytik Jena Group Bundles International Sales Activities

Jena, June 21, 2010 – With the integration of the sales unit of CyBio Japan Co. into Analytik Jena AG's Japanese subsidiary, the Jena-based systems provider for analytical instrumentation technology is bundling its sales competence in one of the biggest and most dynamic markets in this segment. At the dealer conference organized by Analytik Jena in Yokohama, Japan, on May 28, 2010, the company launched the joint Group-wide market campaign.

"Our goal is to further expand Analytik Jena's international network and to exploit the experience and structures of the successful Analytical Instrumentation division for other business units and subsidiaries too", said Klaus Berka, CEO of Analytik Jena AG. "Thanks to the extensive synergies resulting from bundling sales structures and expertise in the Group, we will be able to achieve significant sales and growth potential."

With an export ratio of nearly 70% and a distinctive international retailer network, Analytik Jena now operates in more than 90 countries worldwide. In the past fiscal year, the Group generated sales of close to EUR 50 million outside Germany.

"The Japanese market for analytical instrumentation technology is the third biggest in the world and will develop rapidly. Many governments in the Far East have invested considerable sums in biological and pharmaceutical research and established related programs", stressed Torsten Olschewski, head of sales and marketing in the Analytical Instrumentation division at Analytik Jena. "In the atomic spectroscopy and elemental analysis product lines, we will position ourselves even more broadly with additional products and will benefit in particular from our good reputation in Asia."

A total of 62 Japanese retailers participated in the conference in Yokohama. The event focused on the development and consolidation of the Life Science division and in particular on the integration of CyBio, which caters to a specific industry with the major pharmaceutical groups, into the existing sales activities.

"The pharmaceuticals market has been undergoing a dramatic change in recent years. Now we must push forward CyBio's international business with high-quality, innovative products and the right market strategy", said Berka.

As part of this cooperation, Analytik Jena subsidiary AJ Innuscreen GmbH will provide the partner with a platform for automated isolation of nucleic acids with the associated reagent system worth almost half a million euro.

“In the field of sepsis diagnostics, speed plays a vital role in identifying infections and detecting pathogens. Analytik Jena's cooperation with SIRS-Lab offers great potential for the challenging area of diagnostics”, commented Klaus Berka, CEO of Analytik Jena AG.

SIRS-Lab is a Jena-based biotechnology company which develops and produces test systems for molecular diagnosis of life-threatening infections.
